Can you save Matt?
You can actually Save Matt, and not get bitten as Emily, and still keep their relationship. All you have to do, is give Emily the flare gun, and attempt to save Emily once, before jumping away.
What happens if Matt saves Emily?
BUTTERFLY EFFECT UPDATE (Save Emily): If Matt tries to save Emily, he ends up falling deeper into the mine only to get caught and killed by the Wendigo (unless he has the Flare Gun earlier so he can get a shot at defending himself).
What happens if Emily gets bitten?
If Emily is bitten, Sam will defend her by urging against hastily shooting her and will assure her she’ll be fine if Mike spares her and Ashley reveals the truth. If Emily was killed by Mike, she will be heartbroken and upset over her death.

No he can’t kill anyone. He becomes a Wendigo by eating the head of the Flamethrower guy that is given to him by Hannah I believe. You can’t save him any other way.
Can you save Emily and Matt in until dawn?
Matt has a choice about saving Emily or jumping to safety. Matt survives if he jumps to safety. If he tries to save Emily twice, she falls anyway, and Matt is tossed to a landing. Emily appears to die, but she doesn’t.
